About The Smart Makers:
Designing the Future of Physical Products.
If you are an industrial designer, a physical product creator, or an e-commerce entrepreneur trying to figure out how AI fits into your real-world workflow, you are in the exact right place.
I built The Smart Makers to bridge the gap between digital AI generation and physical reality. But my journey to this intersection wasn’t exactly a straight line.
From Car Sketches to Corporate Leadership I have been obsessively designing things since I was 19. Like many in our field, my journey started with cars, spending hours sketching complex curves and trying to make objects look as fast as they felt. Fast forward to today, and I work as a professional industrial designer, managing a talented team of creators at a large corporation. My day-to-day involves taking abstract ideas and turning them into tangible, manufacturable products.
I have always been intensely curious and willing to learn, but I’ll let you in on a secret: Up until two years ago, I was a massive AI skeptic. I didn’t believe AI could ever be a «real» tool in our rigorous, dimensionally-accurate workflows. But as I began experimenting, everything changed. I realized I could render my team’s designs in seconds. Suddenly, the hours previously lost to tedious, boring management tasks were gone. AI became my sounding board, a tireless co-designer I could chat with to brainstorm ideas at 2 AM.
Building Beyond the Studio My curiosity doesn’t stop at industrial design. I also run my own e-commerce store, where I design and sell custom merch and prints.
Having AI as a work companion has completely collapsed the barrier between physical and digital creation for me. Recently, I’ve even started «vibe coding», using AI to build functional apps and websites from scratch. I simply describe what I want, AI writes the code, and I get to act as the creative director.
My Philosophy (And Why This Blog Exists) The design world is changing at breakneck speed, and the anxiety around AI is real. But here is what I firmly believe: AI is not just a tool; it is a fundamental shift in the creative process. However, AI cannot replace us. As designers, we are the guardians of good taste and criteria. An algorithm can generate a thousand variations of a product in a minute, but it takes human empathy, emotional intelligence, and lived personal experience to know which one of those iterations will actually resonate with people in the real world. AI handles the scale; we handle the soul.
